Chapter Selection Signup Post
Ok, not nearly as many signups as I had hoped, but that means more chapters for each of us to write.

Here's the chapter list. Reply to this post with the chapter you'd like to write and I'll strike it off the list. When you finish it, if there are any left you can pick another one.

In the meantime, tell your family, tell your lovers, tell your friend, tell your enemies that we still need more participants.

Just a friendly, drive-by mod post.

To anotnia31h, fayevalentine00, ladylyssa and sword_maiden... Welcome!

To everyone who's watching, or stopping by to check us out, welcome to you as well! Feel free to stay a while, sign up and participate. I promise, we won't bite. That's what we have the house-elves for.

MOD POST: Signup Timeline
I almost forgot.

I'll keep signups open until April 14th or we get 30 participants at which point I'll assign chapters. If you want to write a specific chapter, say so in your introductory post. Specific chapters will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. If we get more then 30 signups, I'll draw a number out a hat for what chapter signups 31 and up will write. If we don't get 30 signups by April 14th, we'll start with Chapter 1 and then whoever finishes their assigned chapter will be given the next unassigned chapter in the queue.

MOD POST: Introductory post
Feel free to post here and introduce yourself if you want to participate in godrics_hallows (Hint: I don't know that you want to participate unless you tell me that you want to participate.)

Have you ever written HP fanfic before?
Have you ever participated in a fiction writing challenge before?
If so, where and when?
Do you have a preference for what part of the story you write? Beginning? Middle? End?
Is there any aspect of the story you do or don’t want to write? For example, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, character death, Dursleys, Weasleys, Snape, etc, etc, etc.

Also feel free to include any other information you feel like sharing or think people might like to know.

MOD POST: Guidelines
Here are some guidelines for participating in godric_hallows Book 7 challenge. These are NOT requirements for participation but it will probably make things go smoother if everyone agrees to certain basic premises prior to starting. These 'suggestions' are either canon, suggested by canon or taken from/infered from statements by JK Rowling or are just plain wishful thinking on the part of plaidphoenix

Fifteen Guidelines For Participating In godrics_hallows Book 7 Challenge

1)Harry may or may not survive the story.

2)Voldemort will definitely not survive the story.

3)Harry and Ginny will all but certainly rekindle their romance at least once during the story.

4)Ron and Hermione will likely but not definitely enter into a romantic relationship.

5)Bill and Fleur will all but certainly get married.

6)Remus and Tonks may or may not get married.

7)Hogwarts may or may not reopen but McGonagall will be the Hogwarts professor that the Trio confers with when necessary.

8)Draco and Snape: One will likely die, the other will wind up hopelessly incapacitated.

9)Up the body count. Voldemort likes them bloody.

10) It would be nice, but not essential, to see a Dementor’s Kiss.

11)Harry as a Horcrux is cliché.

12)Dumbledore being wrong about Nagani as a Horcrux would be a pleasant surprise.

13)It would be another pleasant surprise to see an unexpected character come out of the proverbial closet.

14)We don’t need no super powers, dead characters rising from the grave as anything but Inferni, enormous estates or gigantic fortunes or surprising discoveries of famous muggles actually being wizards.

15) When in doubt, be creative.

MOD POST: Community Outline
Welcome to godrics_hallows

godrics_hallows is a fic challenge surrounding the seventh book of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows.

This is a restricted community in that only members may post to the community, but membership is open to anybody who wishes to join.

--

What is the purpose of godrics_hallows?
The purpose of this community is to have members each write a different chapter to book 7 and then see 1)How each chapter compares to all the other chapters produced by various members as well as 2)How the finished product compares to JKR’s finished product. (I suspect her take on book 7 will be the more popular and widely read version.)

Who decides who writes what chapter?
When you join the community, please reply to the welcome post with the following information:

Once enough people have signed up, I’ll either randomly assign chapters as necessary or open the chapter list on a first come/first serve basis.

How many chapters are there?
Right now I have 30 chapters planned with a tentative title and a one or two sentence outline of what I think it should contain. Keep in mind, if you sign up and want to change either the title of the chapter you’re writing or the general activities of that chapter, you should feel free to write whatever comes to mind so long as it doesn’t blatantly contradict any of the other chapters that are outlined or what clues JKR has given us as to what will happen in Book 7.

What should I do if I have a question that hasn’t been answered?
You should feel free to ask it and pray that I, or some other kind, benevolent soul, feels free to answer it with a semi-intelligent, semi-coherent answer.

When will my entry be due?
I think most people would prefer quality over quantity, but in an ideal world, please try and have your entry posted no later then July 1, 2007. That way people can enjoy what you’ve written without being pressured or distracted by the actual Book 7.

Can I tell my friends about godrics_hallows?
Of course, the more the merrier is my motto.

What happens if more people sign up to participate then there are chapters to write?
Well, one of two things will happen. First, either I, or someone one more creative then I, will outline more chapters to be written. Or secondly, some chapters will be double booked and we’ll have differing versions of the same chapter to read.

What happens if you don't have 30 participants?
Then the participants who have signed up will be given their assignments and then as they finish them will be given new ones as necessary from unassigned chapters in the queue.

Is there a minimum length or word count required?
Idealy, at least 1000 words would be nice.
